Making PowerPoint Slides – Avoiding the Pitfalls of Bad Slides

Google “PowerPoint pitfalls bad slides.”
Use the information you find to fill in the blanks below:


(a)   What is shown on the second slide? Outlines

(b)  How many slides should you use a minute? 1-2

(c)   How many points should you have per slide? 4-5

(d)  A slide should be in point form. It should not contain too many words.

(e)   It is a good idea to present your points one a time because it will help your audience concentrate on your points.

(f)   Animation should be consistent and not distracting. Do not overboard with the animation.

(g)  Title fonts should be size 36 ; main point fonts should be size 28, and use size 18 for an ordinary point. 

(h)  Do not use a complicated font.

(i)    The font color should contrast sharply with the background. Using color for decoration is distracting and annoying.

(j)    The same background should be used consistently throughout your presentation.

(k)  Use _Graphs rather than just charts and words.

(l)    Proof read your slides for:
·       Spelling mistakes.
·       Repeated words.
·       Grammatical error you made.


(m)You should have a effective closing  rather than an abrupt ending.
